Hot off of the receipt of a British Fashion Award for more than twenty years as a top model, Kate is more than well-known for her contribution to the fashion industry – but as a regular girl from Croydon, south London, she’s more modest than most. Discovered by the late photographer Corinne Day, Kate made her modeling debut in an issue of British mag The Face – and it was there, in a series of fun, frank black-and-whites that we’d meet the future face of Calvin Klein, to say nothing of a hundred other brands. “I wanted to be at the center of things,” reflects Kate. “As soon as I was given a chance, I took it.”
She took it, and her career took off. From the pages of The Face to the face of Burberry, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana, all the way to her modern-day endorsements for Rimmel and Topshop, Kate’s star is permanently on the rise – but even as one of the highest-paid, most in-demand models in the world, Kate remains, if nothing else, Kate. “I’m not that different,” she insists. “But I don’t do boredom. Excitement is wherever I am.” Tradition dictates that a man gives a woman diamonds on the occasion of their 60th anniversary, and like a diamond, Kate is perfected in time. Diamonds or no diamonds, one thing is for sure – Miss Moss has got ‘It’ in spades, and she’ll never, ever go out of style.
