Peggy McIntaggart, a woman from very humble beginnings, will have you stumped on her beauty—and on the proper pronunciation of her hometown. Penetanguishene, pronounced “pene-tan-guish-sheen”, is a rural town in Ontario, home to blonde-haired Peggy and her four brothers. “I love to fish, cook and clean house,” says country girl Peggy. “I'm a girl you could take home to your mother.” Growing up in a small town, within a small house, Peggy and her brothers learned a valuable lesson—home is what you make of it. At times, brown-eyed Miss McIntaggart and her family had to share their home with her cousins in an effort to save money and keep a roof over their heads. During these tough times, Peggy took comfort in her Christian faith and values. While there were days where she hated feeling crammed in that small house, she learned to be thankful instead for the food in her belly and clothes on her back—even if they were hand-me-downs from her cousins. Peggy’s steadfast Christian faith never wavered, no matter how bleak the future seemed. She had her health, her family and her dreams—and one of those dreams just so happened to center on a centerfold. “When I was a little girl, I thought it would be neat to do a Playboy centerfold,” says our Miss January 1990, who calls herself a late bloomer. “I’m a Christian, but I don’t push it on other people, and I don’t think it’s right to judge people. One of my brothers said, ‘You talk about religion, then you go and pose nude in Playboy.’ I told him God wouldn’t love me any less because I was a centerfold.” Peggy was right—no one loved her any less for the choices she made. In fact, she was showered with more love than ever before, from her family and from Playboy fans alike. When Peggy became our Playmate of the Month, she felt ultimate validation for having pursued her dream in the face of adversity. Her Playmate pictorial not only allowed Peggy to check off a goal from her bucket list, but it also opened doors to a new career: acting. Having played roles in such Hollywood productions as Eddie Murphy’s Beverly Hills Cop II and Far Out, Man with Tommy Chong, Peggy is now more thankful than ever before, but she misses the privacy of the simple life. “I'm old-fashioned. Hip to everything that's happening, but old-fashioned,” admits our small-town Playmate. “I want to be happily married and have 17 outdoorsy, loving kids.” Looks to us like Penetanguishene, Ontario could very well be seeing Peggy McIntaggart very soon.
