Anne Randall, a blue-eyed California girl from Alameda has always known that she was destined to work by the bright lights of Hollywood. “Oh, I've got the acting fever, all right,” says the beauty with the golden-blonde hair. “I don't like to analyze it, but I know I have to be an actress. It's a very compulsive thing—when I'm acting, I'm happy. When I'm not, I'm miserable.” The all-natural actress moved to Los Angeles to make achieving her acting goals obtainable, but what she wasn’t prepared for was the steep level of competition. “I suppose there are hundreds of other girls in Hollywood trying to break into films,” says the busty blonde who’s gone on enough casting calls to realize something about the industry. “We’re not in competition with one another though—we're in competition with ourselves. I've been acting and loving it since I was in elementary school. When I was very young, I sang in a talent contest, and I still remember how the audience's applause sounded to me. I decided then that I'd grow up to be an actress.” Having acted in everything from school plays to a Bay Area TV dance-party show, the actress and singer had hoped breaking into movies would be easier, but she’s come to realize that she’ll have to work in television for a few years before finally making that transition. “The casting offices will only consider you when they see you on film,” she says. “Who has film of me? No one! I'm trying to get a screen test.” With the movie industry out of reach and television shows offering minimal work, Anne was focused on getting her name out there by any means—enter Playboy. “I love being a Playmate because it's one of the best ways to feel that you're desirable. Most girls want to feel that they are—I do,” explains our busty Miss May 1967. “Plus, it’s nice to have pictures of yourself looking so cute.” The Irish-Yugoslavian-Cherokee model had offers rolling in once her Playmate of the Month pictorial had been published, but after a few jobs, the acting world lost its charm for Anne. “For me, it’s now been there, done that,” she confesses. “My greatest accomplishment in life so far has been learning how to weld furniture. No one believed I could do it. I’m so proud.” Now living in Arizona with her actor and singer husband, Dick Stewart, Anne occupies her days with tennis, swimming and photography, but her Playboy days haven’t been forgotten. “Dick and I go back to the Mansion as often as possible. It’s the center of our social life,” confesses our Miss May 1967. “Hef taught me that having fun is the most important thing in life.” An evening at the Mansion with Playmate Anne Randall and Hugh Hefner is always a recipe for a good time.
